Can A Detox Help Relieve Fibromyalgia Symptoms?


 After years of being tormented by conventional doctors over the cause of my fibromyalgia symptoms, I eventually sought the advice of a holistic pain specialist. Within 20 minutes of describing my daily struggle with my symptoms, she diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. It was a moment of mixed emotions.

On one hand I was elated, because I was so relieved to have a name for what I was going through. On the other hand, she proceeded to inform me that the daily pain wasn’t going away anytime soon. It cemented in my mind the harsh reality that I was sick… and there was no pill or miracle cure that could fix me.

The specialist spent the next hour with me. Telling me everything she knew about fibromyalgia and everything that she had seen work for her other patients, and everything that didn’t. She talked to me about something no other doctor ever did before: food. She explained that most people with fibromyalgia  are suffering from a number of disorders and deficiencies. Many of us suffer from a lack of vitamin D, low malic acid production, low ATP, the membranes surrounding our muscles are too thin, and our brains lack the proper amount of neurons for optimal functioning and clear thinking. All of these problems are made worse when toxic chemicals build up in our system from the foods we eat.

In a normal person, most toxins are naturally flushed out by a properly functioning, healthy body. She explained that a person with fibromyalgia experiences toxin flushing a little differently, because the body does not flush out these toxins as easily and they build up causing your symptoms to worsen.

It is similar to over-filling a garbage can: the garbage can works effectively to do the job of holding the garbage until it needs to be taken out to the dumpster. But, if the can is full and you continue putting garbage on top, it will overflow onto the floor and cause a bigger mess to clean up. Similarly, your body can effectively clean up low levels of toxins, but bigger problems begin to develop if the natural functions in the body can’t keep up with an influx of toxic substances.
  • Nutrient deficiency is a common problem for people with fibromyalgia, and a detox can help to boost those nutrient levels. When your body is lacking in nutrition, the major organs don’t have the tools that are needed to work at optimal levels. Using the right detox product can restore those nutrient levels and boost your overall health.

You are in pain, you can’t sleep, sometimes your head is so foggy you can’t even compose a coherent thought, let alone a sentence. Your body is out of line, and it needs to be corrected. A detox is a great first step to this correction and something every person with fibromyalgia should try.

A healthy detox is now a part of my fibro routine and has been for quite some time. I do a 30 day detoxevery year in February.  The holidays are hard because I eat foods I shouldn’t, I exert myself more than usual and my body takes a beating for it. So every year in February, I do my detox to realign myself and flush all the holiday waste out of my system.
